It has been a busy day for the Greenland Police with incidents all over the coast.

The police have had their hands full. There have been several alcohol-related incidents and house riots across the country over the past 24 hours. This is according to the head of the Greenland Police, Aqqalu Petersen.

    – We have, among other things, opened a case of violence and threats, he says.

The police have also received a number of suicide threats. At the same time, there have been two suicide attempts, the chief of police says. In recent months, there has been a focus on an increasing number of suicides.

Do you need help with suicidal thoughts?

Do you feel alone and need someone to talk to?

You are not alone. Most people need to be listened to during periods when life or a situation is experienced as so difficult that they cannot handle it alone. We have time to listen. Tusaannga’s counselors listen and can help you put your challenges into words. They can also give you tools for how to handle difficult circumstances in your life. Telephone counseling is an anonymous personal conversation between you and a counselor where you determine the content of the conversation. All children, young people and adults who need to talk or write to someone can contact Tusaannga. It is anonymous and free to contact Tusaannga – you can also call or write even if you no longer have Tusass.

    Search at sea

A SAR operation was underway in Nuuk on Saturday night. A search was underway at sea when the police received a report last night.

    – Fortunately, nothing happened. The people in question sailed to Nuuk themselves and are doing fine, says Aqqalu Petersen.

The SAR operation was called off this morning at 6 am.
