A severe storm at Nuuk and the risk of severe turbulence mean that Air Greenland is forced to cancel all flights on Sunday.

Early this morning there were gale force winds in Nuuk and strong gales in Kangerlussuaq.

This means that Air Greenland is forced to cancel all flights today, Sunday, July 6, because there is a risk of severe turbulence, explains Air Greenland.

    – This prevents us from flying today’s program and since there are many departures, we ask the affected travelers to wait before going to airports and heliports as we are fully in the process of looking at accommodation for the passengers and since there are so many of them, it will take some time before we can allocate overnight accommodations.

    – We are working on a big puzzle, especially in Nuuk, where many travelers should have left. For now, we ask for the travelers’ patience, Air Greenland writes to KNR.

Air Greenland is continuously updating their website, they write

    – So instead of writing to the affected passengers individually, there will be collective updates for all passengers on the website, where we will provide information during traffic deviations, says Inga Dora G. Markussen to KNR.

Many locals have also responded to the company’s encouragement to announce if they have a bed available overnight, they write in an email. However, the company still urges patience from the many affected passengers.
