Carsten Olsen, chairman of Timersoqatigiiffiit Assamik Arsartartut Kattuffiat, expressed his enthusiasm as he announced that Antibulli Handball will debut in Greenland’s ten handball clubs next year, rebranded as Ikioqatigiitta – Antibulli Handball.
This exciting initiative is a collaboration between Mary Fonden, Hej Fonden, and TAAK, aimed at fostering well-being, community, and safety for children and young people within the handball clubs.
“The Mary Foundation has successfully engaged in various activities and collaborations in Greenland,” said Helle Østergaard, director of the Mary Foundation. “Therefore, it’s only natural that we partner with Hej Fonden and TAAK to introduce Antibulli’s well-being exercises to handball-playing children in Greenland. We understand that safe and welcoming recreational environments are crucial for children’s self-esteem.”
Josephine Touray, director of the Hej Foundation, shared her excitement for this initiative as well. “I truly appreciate that TAAK—the Greenlandic Handball Association—reached out to us, recognizing the potential to extend the Antibulli concept to young handball players. I look forward to our collaboration as we work together to nurture safe, inclusive communities within Greenlandic clubs.”
Carsten Olsen underscored the importance of strong communities in keeping children and young people engaged in handball. “We are thrilled that so many kids in Greenland are choosing to play handball. Our goal is to enhance the accessibility of the sport, and central to that is creating a united and inviting environment for every child. We believe Antibulli can help us achieve this.”
This spring, coaches in Sisimiut, Ilulissat, and Nuuk are expected to complete their training in Antibulli, with the rollout being celebrated at the upcoming Children’s Cup.
