Itinnera Solutions Receives “Prospector of the Year” Award at Toronto’s Raw Materials Fair
At this year’s PDAC Raw Materials Fair in Toronto, Itinnera Solutions ApS was proudly honored with the self-government’s prestigious “Prospector of the Year” award. Founded in 2023 by esteemed geology professor Minik Rosing, the company stood out for its innovative approach to exploring Greenland’s mineral resources.
Naaja H. Nathanielsen, the Minister for Business, Raw Materials, Trade, Justice, and Equality, presented the award. Although Rosing was unable to attend, his operations manager, Eliot Booth, and business developer, Samuel Backlund, accepted the accolade on behalf of the company.
Itinnera Solutions, along with its subsidiary Rock Flour Company, currently holds three exploration licenses in Greenland—located in Ilulialik in Nuukfjorden, Sermilik, and Frederikshåb Isblink near Paamiut. The team is investigating the potential of nutrient-rich glacial flour, created as the ice cap shifts across the bedrock, exploring its viability as a fertilizer and for carbon capture. Plans are in place to commence large-scale agricultural experiments in 2026, marking a significant step in the company’s mission.
In his keynote address, Nathanielsen emphasized the importance of innovative thinking in sustainable mining practices. “In Greenland, we take pride in our abundant natural resources,” he remarked. “However, we must also tread carefully, recognizing our responsibility to use them wisely. The future of mining isn’t solely about extraction; it involves deeper understanding, strategic innovation, and minimizing waste.”
For Itinnera Solutions, receiving this esteemed award symbolizes the fruitful partnership with local municipalities and serves as a testament to the trust placed in them. Booth shared his appreciation following the ceremony, saying, “This recognition validates our efforts on this special project. It feels rewarding to know that the government believes in our vision.”
In previous years, this honor has been awarded to a number of companies, including Amaroq Minerals, Greenland Resources, and Bluejay Mining, reflecting the growing importance of sustainable practices in the mining sector.
