Launching Huge Flavor: Burger King Opens Its Doors in Sisimiut
On October 30, residents of Sisimiut will have something to celebrate: the arrival of Burger King in Greenland. This new family-friendly restaurant, located at Dorthe Lennertip aqq. No. 1, opens its doors thanks to a collaborative effort between the iconic fast-food chain and Pisiffik.
After four years of planning and preparation, the restaurant is finally ready to welcome up to 70 guests at a time. Gert Christoffersen, sales manager at Pisiffik Sisimiut, expressed his pride in this milestone. “We are excited to launch in Sisimiut, a city known for its enthusiasm toward new ventures,” he stated. “We hope Burger King will complement the existing dining options and serve as a fresh meeting spot for the community.”
Designed as an inviting space for families, the restaurant aims to be a gathering place for everyone—from children to adults—to share meals in a casual atmosphere.
Empowering Local Youth Through Job Opportunities
The management of the restaurant is committed to hiring local staff, aiming to employ between 10 to 15 part-time workers. This initiative also serves as a chance for young people in the area to gain valuable work experience, bolstered by Pisiffik’s mentoring programme.
At the helm of the restaurant is Paneeraq Evaldsen, a 37-year-old manager currently undergoing training in Denmark. “I am incredibly proud to be opening Greenland’s first Burger King,” she shared with enthusiasm. “I’m especially looking forward to serving the first flame-grilled Whopper right here in Sisimiut and providing a unique dining experience that we believe will foster connections among families, young people, and adults alike.”
With excitement in the air, the opening of Burger King represents not just a new dining option, but an opportunity for community engagement and employment that resonates deeply within Sisimiut.
