Healthcare in crisis: Citizens are invited for coffee and dialogue
Naalakkersuisoq wants to hear nuumiut’s input into a pressured healthcare system and promises that their votes will be used in political work.
The healthcare system is at a ‘point of no return’.
That dramatic turn of phrase was used by naalakkersuisoq for Health and People with Disabilities when KNR interviewed Anna Wangenheim earlier this month.
Now she invites nuumiut to coffee and dialogue on Thursday between 4:30 PM and 6:00 PM at the Nuuk Community Center. Here she wants to hear the citizens’ opinions on how the healthcare system works.
The Greenland Government writes this in a press release.
– The voice of citizens is indispensable if we are to create a healthcare system that truly meets people’s needs. I look forward to listening, learning and discussing – and hope that many will show up and take part in the dialogue, says Naalakkersuisoq in the press release.

A different form of meeting participation is planned. It will not be a classic citizens’ meeting, but rather a so-called ‘open space’, which will involve citizens more directly.
According to the organizers, input from the meeting will have concrete significance in the political work and may, among other things, influence the content of the upcoming expanded health settlement, which is under development.
Exactly how open space works is not disclosed.
But the press release lists four points that citizens must provide their input on:
Expectations for Naalakkersuisoq and the political leadership, access to medical and emergency services in Nuuk, healthcare services for the elderly and people with physical and mental disabilities, healthcare interventions targeted at children and young people, including the transition to adulthood.
The meeting will be held in both Greenlandic and Danish, and coffee, tea and water will be served along the way.
