Jens-Frederik Nielsen is at the National Assembly in the Faroe Islands
Today and tomorrow, the leaders of the Commonwealth are gathered in the Faroe Islands, including for the biannual summit between Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Denmark.
Right now, the three heads of government in the Kingdom of Denmark, Jens-Frederik Nielsen (D), Aksel V. Johannesen (Social Democracy) and Mette Frederiksen (S), are gathered in the Faroe Islands for a national session.
– I look forward to discussing the crucial political and economic interests we have in this joint construction, said Jens-Frederik Nielsen in a press release prior to the meeting.
What exactly the three leaders will discuss is not known, but the Prime Minister’s Office in Denmark writes that cooperation and security are on the agenda. Before the meeting, Mette Frederiksen has said that the Danish Commonwealth must undergo a modernization that makes sense for all three countries.
Security will be discussed on Tuesday when the Foreign, Security and Defense Policy Contact Committee meets.
The Minister of Finance and Taxes, Múte B. Egede, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Research, Vivian Motzfeldt, will participate in that meeting, along with Faroese and Danish government leaders and selected ministers, the Department of the President writes in a press release.
