Elias Nordahl Gears Up for Junior World Championships in Lillehammer
Elias Nordahl, along with fellow cross-country stars Sasja Joelsen Henriksen, Marika Magnussen, and Qunnaaq Jensen, is preparing for an exciting debut at the Junior World Championships in Lillehammer, Norway, set to kick off on March 2. This promising quartet from Greenland will take on the world in events such as the sprint, 10 km, 20 km, and the mixed relay, pitting their skills against some of the strongest nations in the sport.
Donning their new national team uniforms adorned with the Greenland flag—a source of immense pride—the young athletes will compete under the umbrella of the Danish Skiing Association. Many Greenlandic supporters are already making plans to travel to Lillehammer to cheer them on, amplifying the sense of community and national pride surrounding this event.
National coach Martin Møller reflects on this pivotal moment for the team with genuine admiration. “It’s remarkable to see how much they’ve progressed over the years,” he says. “Their dedication and consistent training have been inspiring. I couldn’t be prouder of their development.”
Møller believes that this championship could herald a new era for Greenlandic cross-country skiing. “I see this as the beginning of a resurgence for our athletes on the international stage. It takes bravery and commitment to compete outside of Greenland, and these young skiers are taking that leap. I sincerely hope their efforts will inspire a new generation of runners back home.”
For Nordahl and his teammates, the Junior World Championships represents both a chance to test their skills against seasoned competitors and an invaluable opportunity to gain experience on a larger platform. With enthusiasm building, they are eager to rise to the occasion on the starting line in Lillehammer, ready to give their all in a showcase of talent and determination.
