In a notable incident in Nuuk on Friday evening, authorities apprehended a man found in possession of over a kilogram of hashish. The Greenland Police confirmed the arrest, which took place around 7:30 PM, as the individual was en route to a coastal passenger ship.

Malik Olesen, the duty officer for the Greenland Police, provided details about the operation, stating, “The police intervention was swift and necessary under the circumstances.”

Following the arrest, a thorough inquiry was conducted, leading to an expedited court hearing the next day at 1 PM. The accused received a sentence of five months in an institutional setting for the offense.

Although he was released post-hearing, the man is expected to return at a later date to serve his sentence, according to police officials. This operation highlights the ongoing collaboration between the police and customs services in tackling drug-related issues in the region.
