Exciting Preparation Ahead for Men’s Handball Team in Paris
By John Groth
As the men’s national handball team gears up for a pivotal year, they will kick off their preparations with an exciting tournament in Paris from January 6 to 10, 2026. This tournament serves as a crucial platform for both the national squad and a select group of up-and-coming players, offering them a chance to prove their readiness for the World Cup qualification round in May.
National coach Johannes Groth expressed his eagerness about the upcoming event. “It will be thrilling to see who stands out in Paris. There’s intense competition for spots on both teams, and this tournament provides a perfect opportunity for players to demonstrate their readiness for the WC qualification. Even those not participating now remain in contention for the World Cup, so it’s vital they give their all,” he noted in a recent press release from TAAK.
Groth highlighted that the tournament’s significance extends beyond mere scores and statistics. “Our goal is to test the players under pressure, refine our tactics, and strengthen our teamwork. We want both teams to be as prepared as possible,” he explained.
After their time in Paris, the team will shift their focus to the United States for the World Cup qualification in May. Meanwhile, the focus team will prepare for their qualification later in the year.
This tournament marks an exciting chapter for the men’s national handball team, offering a glimpse into the potential future stars of the sport.
