DEN NYE RUTE NEW YORK – NUUK
United Airlines will connect the two cities during the summer season from June 14 to September 24, 2025.
A Boeing 737 Max 8 flies from New York to Nuuk on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and back from Nuuk to New York on Wednesdays and Sundays.
United Airlines uses Newark Airport, 23 kilometers west of Manhattan.
Flight time is 4 hours and 15 minutes east, 4 hours and 30 minutes west.
Due to the time difference, it will be possible to fly from Nuuk in the morning and still have most of the day in New York.
Minister for Trade, Raw Materials, Energy, Justice and Equality Naaja Nathanielsen (IA) gives a short speech in English to those gathered at the airport.
She starts by noting that the route has already won an award for “sexiest route of 2025” – and that this was well deserved.
– Just a short flight away from the United States, you will find a beautiful Arctic community. We hope many of you will come and experience our country from south to north and from west to east. Each region with its own special adventures to stimulate body and soul, united in pride in our country.
Naaja Nathanielsen further explains that the upcoming increase in tourism has been a goal for many years. At the same time, it is equally important for Greenland that the growth takes place in a sustainable manner, she emphasizes.
– Finally, I would just like to congratulate the many people in both countries who have worked hard to make this route a reality. Well done you.
Well done you.
