On Saturday, June 21, there will be festivities and celebrations throughout the country. We have tried to compile an overview of the municipalities’ official programs for the National Day.
Tomorrow marks 40 years since the very first national day was held in this country.
True to tradition, the day will be marked in most towns and villages with various official events and ceremonies – speeches, coffee breaks, hoisting of the Erfalasorput – and seal-catching and fishing competitions.
The day starts at 8:00 AM in most places, with the exception of a few places.
In Ilimanaq in Avannaata Municipality, the day begins with a flag raising by the lake at 09:00, while in other places a little is squeezed into the program for those who are extra fresh in the morning.
For example, in Narsaq, where at 07:45 there will be a procession with flags from A34 to the municipality. In Nuuk there will be a procession at 07:30 with a procession from the Town Hall to Nuup Saava (Kolonihavnen).
Qaqortoq is also celebrating the city’s 250th anniversary with a gala dinner in the evening.
