Mikkel Bom Steps Down as Coach of Women’s National Handball Team
In a significant development for Greenland’s handball scene, Mikkel Bom has officially stepped down as the national coach of the women’s team, as confirmed by the Greenlandic Handball Association, TAAK. This decision comes after a mutual agreement between Bom and TAAK, marking the end of their collaboration after nearly a year.
Since taking the reins in May 2024, Bom has been credited with contributing to the team’s growth during his tenure. In a press release, TAAK expressed its gratitude for Bom’s efforts, stating, “We thank Mikkel for his cooperation over these past seasons and his role in the development of the women’s national team. We wish him all the best for the future, both on and off the pitch.”
As the search for a new coach begins, TAAK’s sports department will temporarily oversee the team’s preparations for upcoming activities. Notably, Bom’s appointment in 2024 was made possible through crucial financial support from the Faroese milk producer MBM, underscoring the importance of external partnerships in the sport.
The women’s national team now faces a pivotal moment as they look for fresh leadership to guide them in their future endeavors.
