Atassut has appointed Maritha Broberg as the new Naalakkersuisut, filling the position left vacant in November following Bentiaraq Ottosen’s resignation. The party made the announcement on their official Facebook page.
Broberg, who campaigned in the spring for both the municipal and Inatsisartut elections, secured a seat on the council of Municipality Qeqertalik, although she was not elected to the Inatsisartut. Nonetheless, she remains on the list of deputy members for the Inatsisartut.
### Challenges Surrounding the Job Portal
Bentiaraq resigned after discussions regarding the future of a public job portal, leaving the responsibilities of social affairs, labor market, internal affairs, and environmental matters to other officials in the Naalakkersuisut. It remains unclear whether Broberg will take on these portfolios.
Meanwhile, Mads Pedersen of IA has also stepped away from his role as the minister for children, young people, and families. While his resignation has the chairman’s endorsement, it awaits formal approval from the Naalakkersuisut during their next meeting in February.
Currently, Jens-Frederik Nielsen has stepped in to manage Pedersen’s duties, but no announcements have been made regarding his successor in the ministry for children, young people, and families.
