Monday will be a windy and grey affair in Nuuk. Residents can expect gusts of wind of storm force during the day, says the DMI.

Monday started out grey and wet in the capital, and it will continue that way all day, says meteorologist at DMI in Nuuk Jens Lindskjold.

    – We can expect a day when it is grey, wet and windy in the capital. We definitely expect the citizens of Nuuk to experience gusts of wind of storm force during the day, says Jens Lindskjold.

    – It’s already windy and uncomfortable out there, but you should expect the wind to pick up a bit during the morning, says Jens Lindskjold.

    Be careful with garden furniture

When the wind peaks, it will gust between 25 and 28 meters per second, which is storm force.

    – We experience storms quite a bit in Nuuk, but it is unusual for us to experience them in the summer, says Jens Lindskjold.

And because wind and rain will be a combination today, you should be careful not to leave windows and doors open and to make sure your garden and balcony furniture doesn’t run over to your neighbor, says the meteorologist.

Sisimiut and Paamiut feel it a little

The front causing the bad weather has come from the west and is moving east. Nuuk is the part of the country that will be hit hardest, but the stretch between Paamiut and Sisimiut will feel it a little.

The wind will decrease during the night until Tuesday, when the front lies over the Ice Sheet, says Jens Lindskjold.
