The Foreign Affairs and Security Committee in the Inatsisartut is currently on a business trip. However, the deputy chair of the committee, Pele Broberg, who is the committee’s only member from the opposition, is not participating in the trip.
The Foreign Affairs and Security Committee of the Inatsisartut is currently in the Belgian capital Brussels. According to the committee’s chairman, Pipaluk Lynge (IA), the committee has held meetings with two Danish ministers prior to the trip – information she has confirmed to KNR.
The committee consists of five members, but only four of the members are participating in the current trip.
The chairman of Naleraq, Pele Broberg, who is also the deputy chairman of the committee and the only member from the opposition, is not on the trip, where the committee represents Greenland abroad. Pipaluk Lynge confirms this to KNR. As chairman, however, she does not want to comment in detail on why Pele Broberg is not participating. She refers instead to him himself.
Does not wish to appear for an interview
KNR has contacted Pele Broberg, who does not wish to be interviewed. However, Naleraq’s chairman confirms to KNR that he is staying in Nuuk and will not be participating in the trip to Brussels.
Since Greenland enjoys great international interest, KNR has wanted to know why Broberg is not participating in the trip with the committee that deals with foreign and security policy issues – a committee of which he himself is a member. However, Pele Broberg has refused to be interviewed on the subject.
Explaining on Facebook
After refusing to be interviewed about her lack of participation in the trip abroad, Pele Broberg has instead shared an explanation on social media.
The chairman of Naleraq writes that he is currently in the process of moving from Sisimiut to Nuuk. One reason, he explains, is that he does not have time to participate in foreign trips as an elected official during this period.
– Listen, I told the journalist twice that I have already been to Brussels paid for by society, and we are in the process of moving from Sisimiut to Nuuk, he writes.
Pele Broberg states that it is not only the move between the two cities that takes up his time. He adds that he is also busy establishing his new office in Inatsisartut.
– This is the third time since the election that we have been moved, and we have been working without a permanent office, writes the opposition leader.
