Renovation of Nuuk’s swimming pool has been postponed

The Malik swimming pool will not close tomorrow, as previously announced.

After July 1, i.e. tomorrow, it will still be possible to go for a swim or go to the sauna at Svømmehallen Malik in Nuuk.

The renovation of the swimming pool has been postponed until January 1, 2026, writes Kommuneqarfik Sermersooq in a press release.

    – This is because the bidding parties withdrew shortly before the tender, and the schedule for the project has therefore been adjusted, they write.

It was back in November 2023 that it was first announced that the swimming pool would be renovated.

Although the renovation and closure of Malik is still pending, the municipality is making people aware that the ventilation system is in “critical condition”. Therefore, the swimming pool may have to be closed suddenly:

    – If the facility is no longer functioning, it may be necessary to close the swimming pool at short notice. We will of course inform citizens as soon as possible if the situation changes, writes the municipality.
