Sondre Slettemark Shines at World Cup in Hochfilzen

Sondre Slettemark, a rising star in the skiing world, put forth an impressive performance at the World Cup race held in Hochfilzen, Austria, finishing 67th among a competitive field of 104 competitors.

Competing in the 10-kilometer event, which includes two shooting rounds, Slettemark faced a minor setback with a missed shot in the prone position. However, he showcased remarkable resilience by executing a perfect standing round. Ultimately, he crossed the finish line just 2.34 minutes after the victor, Italy’s Giacomel, who maintained a flawless shooting record. Notably, Slettemark was a mere 16 seconds away from securing 60th place, a threshold that would allow him to advance to the chase start.

Reflecting on his performance, Slettemark acknowledged some lingering challenges but expressed optimism about his progress. “My form isn’t quite at 100 percent yet, but I do feel stronger on the course. As for my shooting, it has stabilized at a high level. I’m both faster and more accurate than last year, achieving a hit percentage of 93 percent—an 11 percent improvement,” he stated in a recent press release.

Slettemark’s ongoing development, particularly in shooting, bodes well for his future in upcoming competitions, signaling that he is steadily approaching the top tier of his sport. With each race, he inches closer to his goal, promising to be a force to reckon with in the skiing world.
