According to Sermitsiaq, the man sentenced to detention was charged with assaulting 11 boys under the age of 18.

A 37-year-old man from Sisimiut has been sentenced to detention for, among other things, sexual assault against underage boys.

The Greenland Prosecutor’s Office wrote this on the social media X on Saturday.

The verdict has been handed down by the Qeqqa District Court.

According to the court, the abuses took place from 2021 to 2024. Among the victims are several boys aged 13 to 17.

The man is also said to have been in possession of a large amount of child abuse material. Sermitsiaq has previously described the case.

The indictment, which Sermitsiaq had access to, stated that the man was charged with a total of 66 counts, including indecent assault and breach of the peace.

He was also charged with rape and having a sexual relationship with a person under 18 for payment, the media outlet reports.

    11 wronged boys

According to the indictment, there are 11 injured boys in the case.

There was a large amount of technical material to analyze in the case. In the investigation, the police have analyzed correspondence between the convicted person and the injured parties on social media, writes Sermitsiaq.

Here the police received support from the National Forensic Science Center (NKC).

The indictment stated that the defendant had used a hidden camera to record several of the assaults. This was allegedly done through an alarm clock with a built-in camera.

These recordings were stored on, among other things, a mobile phone, a computer, a USB stick and an external hard drive. All were confiscated by the police.

The total video material had a total duration of over 41 days.

The defendant admitted possession of the video material.

Greenland Police have informed Sermitsiaq that the man is known to the police for having committed similar violations previously.

The man has appealed the verdict, the prosecution writes on X.
