Ineqi Kielsen has been nominated as the candidate for chairman of his old party by Siumut’s Youth. The nominator believes that if Siumut is to be the largest party in Inatsisartut again, then he should be chairman – and believes that Siumut is currently following other parties far too slavishly.
When Siumut delegates are to elect a new chairman on Saturday, the number of candidates has increased. Siumut’s youth department has now officially nominated Ineqi Kielsen as a candidate for the chairmanship. The youth chairman confirms this to KNR: – It is clear that Siumut has lost support in the recent elections. That is why we in Siumut’s Youth believe that it is time for new leadership. That is why we have chosen to nominate Ineqi Kielsen, says Inuk Kielsen Fleischer to KNR.
Chairman: Our party just follows other parties
In the spring elections, Siumut only received four seats in Inatsisartut, which is a big drop – compared to ten seats in the last election period.
The party has been in government for the last two election periods, but according to the youth, it is not good enough that the party is no longer the largest. According to the youth chairman, Siumut is just doing like the other parties. – We are no longer the ones who lead – not even when we are in the coalition. That is not how we usually feel, says Inuk Kielsen Fleischer.
Famous face in the party
Ineqi Kielsen has been a member of Inatsisartut for Siumut – He was elected in 2014 and later worked in the party’s secretariat.
He has previously commented on political issues in KNR. At that time he was not a member of the party – this was confirmed by KNR at the time.
Now he is a member again, and the youth chairman confirms this: – He is a member of Siumut’s Youth and that means that he is automatically also a member of the main party, says Inuk Kielsen Fleischer.
Three candidates ready
KNR has tried to get comment from Ineqi Kielsen, but without success.
