Today, Siumut is gathered in Nuuk for an extraordinary general meeting at Hotel Hans Egede – and the day is set for a chairman’s showdown.

Since Erik Jensen resigned as chairman following the historically poor election to Inartsisartut, the party has pondered its future.

Several local associations such as Uummannaq, Upernavik and Sisimiut point to Aleqa Hammond as chairman.

At the start of the general assembly, Siumut Ungdom criticizes the parent party for not standing together, for being more interested in division and forgetting to listen to the young people. They demand a generational change in the leadership and point to Ineqi Kielsen as the new chairman.

I Kim Kielsen’s speech supports Siumut Youth.

Vivian Motzfeldt remains as acting chairman, trying to gain power in the party.

    Postponed until Sunday

Nuuk is shrouded in clouds and fog, and it has been difficult for all the delegates to arrive on time.

For the same reason, the assembly has decided that the election for chairman and board positions will be postponed until tomorrow, Sunday.

In addition, the party is still running according to the program for the rest of the day.
