There is currently a reduced staffing level among the specially trained security screening staff, and this may mean long waiting times for passengers, Greenland Airports says in a Facebook update.

    – The security function in Nuuk is currently staffed with reduced staffing among the specially trained employees for security screening, and we are working purposefully to strengthen resources, Greenland Airports says in a Facebook post.

    – Security features in NuukAnnouncement

Greenland Airports points out that the lack of security staff may result in longer wait times for travelers, especially early in the day.

New employees must be thoroughly checked

Greenland Airports points out that the challenges are further complicated by the absolutely necessary, but also time-consuming, regulatory processing of new employees in a security function.

This means that all potential new employees must be thoroughly checked and cleared before they can be hired for security reasons.

    – We are working hard and determined to resolve the situation and expect that we will be able to ensure efficient and smooth travel from Nuuk again very soon.

    – We very much regret the inconvenience and the understandable frustration this may cause for the affected passengers.

    – At the same time, we hope for understanding that it is not possible to relax security requirements and processes. Flight safety and the safety of travelers must always come first, says Greenland Airports.
