– It is much easier for them to come to Greenland now, she notes, adding:

– But one must not forget that they have always had the opportunity via Iceland, and that many Americans already come to Greenland that way.

But Elise Bruun also warns and points out that there is a great responsibility on the part of the municipalities to get hotel construction approved so that Greenland is ready to receive many more tourists.

– It’s as if the municipality has been surprised by the arrival of the airport in Nuuk, she says.

– There is a huge charm to get out and be close to the Greenlanders and not just hide in a luxury hotel. Greenland is neither a charter destination nor a destination full of luxury. It is an adventure destination where you get close to the locals. That makes Greenland unique, says Elise Bruun.

– The changing weather can be discouraging for some, while others will see it as a challenge to try their hand at. Where we clearly need to improve is on the information and service level, points out Elise Bruun and adds:

– We take great pride in this at Travel By Heart, and we are there 24/7 for our guests, so they feel safe if there are sudden changes to their stay.

Elise Bruun believes that it creates challenges when flights cannot land or take off on time. This results in dissatisfied guests when they have to wait a long time for information about where to stay and how their trip will be changed to a new plan.

Travel by Heart has just had guests from India who couldn’t understand a sudden cancellation and had to skip Kangerlussuaq.

– It’s really a shame, but with the challenges that exist, sometimes the best solution is to just send them back and hope that they come back later, says Elise Bruun.
