The weekend has kicked off with an unexpected surge in police activity, according to Carl Sværd, the chief of duty at the Greenland Police.

“It’s been busier than usual, especially for what started as a typical Friday,” he noted, reflecting on the escalating situation.

The catalyst behind this uptick appears to be a troubling number of alcohol-related incidents. Reports of violence, disorderly conduct, and disturbances across both the coastline and in Nuuk have prompted a significant police response.

To manage the increasing demands, the police department has enlisted additional personnel to bolster their efforts.

Moreover, the force has also been dealing with various suicide threats. If you or someone you know is struggling, it’s crucial to reach out for support. Tusaannga offers a helpful resource, available at 80 11 80 or via text at 18 99. Their services are both confidential and free of charge.
