Early Morning Incident in Nuuk: Driver Arrested After Crash

In the early hours of Friday morning, around four o’clock, a man was spotted exiting a crashed vehicle in the heart of Nuuk. Chief of Duty at the Greenland Police, Aputsiaq Hansen, confirmed the details of the incident.

A concerned citizen alerted authorities when they noticed the driver appeared intoxicated. The police quickly responded, leading to the man’s arrest as they took him into custody for a blood test to determine his alcohol level at the time of the crash.

“The blood test will provide clarity on the man’s exact blood alcohol concentration while driving,” Hansen explained. However, he added that the driver has since been released as of this morning.

Describing the incident as a solo accident, Hansen noted that the investigation is ongoing. Police are now looking into whether the car was reported stolen or if the owner was indeed behind the wheel.

Carpet Fraud Alert on Social Media

In a separate matter, Hansen warned of a burgeoning scam on Facebook involving the sale of carpets. “We’ve received multiple reports of individuals who paid for carpets but never received them,” he cautioned. “I urge everyone to exercise caution when purchasing from unfamiliar sellers on social media.”

Additionally, the police reported four incidents of domestic disturbances across the country in the past 24 hours, two of which regrettably involved children being present. Hansen emphasized the importance of vigilance within the community, urging residents to report any suspicious activity.
