Future Greenland Conference Set to Showcase Global Business Opportunities

The anticipation is palpable as the Future Greenland business conference gears up for its sold-out event on May 19 and 20 at Katuaq, Nuuk. With over 500 participants registered, the gathering promises to be a significant nexus for business leaders, politicians, and influencers from 17 different nations.

In a statement to Greenland Business, Christian Keldsen, the event’s director, shared that the waiting list has been streamlined, reaffirming, “We expect approximately 400 young people at the concurrent youth conference.” However, Keldsen acknowledged that not everyone could be accommodated. To address this, live presentations will be streamed on screens within the hall, allowing attendees the freedom to network and engage while still accessing important content.

    A Focus on Geopolitics

The 2026 Future Greenland conference aims to delve deeply into the current geopolitical landscape and examine Greenland’s pivotal role. The event will tackle pressing topics about how Greenland can secure a prominent position in both business and politics—both with and without external influences.

Participants hailing from countries as diverse as the USA, France, and South Korea will share their perspectives on these important issues, shedding light on Greenland’s business landscape and its international connections.

The Canadian ambassador to Denmark, Carolyn Bennett, and French ambassador Christophe Parisot are among the notable figures who will contribute to discussions, enriching the conference’s focus on global collaboration.

    Noteworthy Presentations and Panels

Special guests at the conference include Jānis Sārts, the head of the NATO Strategic Communication Center in Riga, who will address the critical issue of misinformation. Additionally, French Trade Minister Nicola Forissier will add her voice to the dialogue.

The “Ambassadors’ Lounge” will be a highlight, featuring discussions led by Bennett, Parisot, and Jens Heinrich, the head of Greenland’s Representation in Denmark, on potential business opportunities and partnerships.

Local voices will also be prominently featured. Notable figures from Greenland, such as Múte B. Egede and former Folketing member Aaja Chemnitz, will discuss the intersection of business and foreign policy. Other influential participants include Kenneth Høegh, the Arctic ambassador, and Krissie Berthelsen Winberg, chairman of Greenland Business.

    Rising Interest and Participation

Keldsen remarked on the heightened interest in the conference, confirming that flights and accommodations are largely booked. “We have made a concerted effort to expand the scope of activities,” he noted, ensuring that more sectors of the business community can benefit from the conference.

As this marks the tenth edition of the Future Greenland conference, its significance as a platform for dialogue and collaboration continues to grow. Alongside the adult conference, a youth component titled “The Future of Greenland” will take place on May 6, further engaging the next generation in these crucial conversations.

The Future Greenland conference is not just an event; it is a catalyst for forging connections and exploring the myriad opportunities that lie ahead for Greenland, both locally and globally.
