Recipient of cultural award: – The award is also a recognition of my partners

The Government of Greenland has awarded their cultural award to Miké Thomsen on the occasion of our national day. The award recipient is delighted that his work has been noticed.

39-year-old artist, musician and actor, Miké Thomsen from Ilulissat, received the cultural award from Naalakkersuisut on our national day.

KNR has met the award recipient.

    – I am happy that our many projects have been noticed, but that is not why I am doing it. I have accepted the award because it gives me the opportunity to get my message out, says Miké Thomsen.

He has appeared in several Greenlandic films, such as Qaqqat Alanngui and its sequel Alanngut Killinganni. He also writes poetry, makes music and is an actor.

    He highlights his background

He explains that his public appearance stems from his background:

    – This award is not just about me. It is also about the community in my life. For example, when I am drawn (in a project ed.), and I realize what it is about, I suddenly take on a leadership position, he says.

    (and the project is red.)

    – That’s why I also need help.

Therefore, as Miké Thomsen himself says, if he is to be able to work seriously as an artist and create art, he needs structure and coordination in his work. But in Greenland, such opportunities are limited.

    – If I had had a manager, I might have already achieved my wildest dreams, says Miké Thomsen.

When asked about his future plans, he replied:

    – I want to start making films, and I also have a lot of music that is just sitting there collecting dust, and I want to release it. And I want to get in better shape – exercise is healthy.
