The tender for the renovation of climate control screens in Block 2 in Nuuk has been carried out in accordance with the law. This is stated by the Self-Government after allegations of illegal tendering began to abound on social media.

The Ministry of Housing, Infrastructure and Outlying Districts rejects allegations that there was an illegal tender for the renovation project in Block 2 in Nuuk.

    Ministry of HousingAnnouncement

The ministry has the central developer role in the self-government and is thus responsible for renovation projects.

    – The Ministry has been made aware that allegations have been made on social media that the tender for the project ‘Renovation of the climate shield, Block 2, Nuuk’ has not been carried out in accordance with applicable legislation and that this is therefore corruption. This is not correct, the Ministry writes in a press release.

In an open letter to the ministry, the employers’ association Nusuka has requested documentation on whether the tender was conducted according to the book and wanted to know how the procedure was carried out.

    Looking for work for locals

According to Nusuka, it would make more sense for a local company to be tasked with the renovation project so that knowledge and experience can be gathered for further work when similar blocks are to be renovated in the future.

However, the department explains that the renovation project is a pilot project:

    – The renovation task in Block 2 is a pilot project, with the purpose of testing a specific method, choice of materials and execution, in order to clarify the possibility and suitability for future tenders of a similar nature.

    – If the evaluation of the pilot project proves positive, tenders of a similar nature can be expected throughout the country, for the renovation of several of the Self-Governing Government’s multi-family buildings.
