New Airport in Ilulissat Set to Open This Autumn: A Seminar on Opportunities and Challenges
The eagerly anticipated airport in Ilulissat is set to welcome its first passengers on October 29. In light of this significant development, Avannaata Kommunia is organizing a seminar aimed at exploring the myriad opportunities and potential challenges the new airport presents.
This initiative, championed by the municipal board, will convene citizens, local politicians, and business leaders to engage in meaningful discussions about the airport’s impact on economic growth.
The seminar will serve as a platform to examine how the new airport can stimulate development, promote tourism, and create local employment opportunities. The invitation from the business administration emphasizes discussions around fostering investments and collaboration within the community.
Scheduled for August 27 in Ilulissat, the event is open to the public and promises to attract a diverse audience. Key speakers will include the Naalakkersuisut for Business, the Naalakkersuisut for Infrastructure, representatives from Greenland Airport, and Visit Ilulissat, along with operations and facilities management professionals from Avannaata Kommunia.
The decision to hold this seminar was made during a municipal council meeting on February 13, spearheaded by council member Heidi Møller from the Democrat Party.
As the opening day approaches, the community is invited to engage in dialogues that will shape the future of this critical asset for Ilulissat.
