A dinghy with an adult man and two children, who were reported missing around midnight on Monday, has been found. The father and son have died, but the daughter is alive.

On Tuesday, police reported that an open dinghy had been reported missing around midnight on Monday.

Now the police write in a press release that the dinghy was found yesterday, Tuesday afternoon. The 35-year-old man and his 6-year-old son were found drowned, while the 9-year-old girl was rescued alive.

The girl was evacuated to the hospital for treatment of injuries.

The three people sailed from Narsaq in a dinghy yesterday, heading towards the settlement of Qassimiut northwest of the city. When they did not return, relatives raised the alarm at 11:20 p.m. Volunteers searched through the night, but dense fog in the area made the search difficult.

The police and emergency services initially waited for better visibility to launch a full rescue operation, but involved both a helicopter and several vessels in the search when the fog lifted.
