24-hour report: 21-year-old in serious solo accident

A man was revived Wednesday morning after he sailed into an iceberg near Qasigiannguit.

At 09:46, an accident in a boat was reported to the Greenland Police.

– A 21-year-old man sailed into an iceberg and fell overboard, says watch commander Carl Sværd.

Locals discovered it, pulled the man out of the water and revived him, the duty officer says.

– The man was taken to the hospital, but at that time he was not conscious, but he was breathing on his own, but now he should have been evacuated to Nuuk, says Carl Sværd.

The police suspect that the man was sailing the dinghy under the influence of alcohol.

– The man is extremely lucky that the locals acted so quickly, says the duty officer.

Caught with more than two kilos of hashish

Yesterday, customs officers at Nuuk Airport detained a man for trying to smuggle hashish.

It was more than two kilos, and the man will be produced before the Sermersooq Circuit Court later Thursday.
