Senior Greenland Championships Set to Celebrate 75 Years of Handball Excellence

The Greenland Handball Association, known as Timersoqatigiiffiit Assammik Arsartartut Kattuffiat, is gearing up for an exciting week of competition as it prepares to host the Senior Greenland Championships in Sisimiut from March 31 to April 5, 2026. This much-anticipated tournament will showcase the country’s top men’s and women’s teams, all vying for championship titles over six exhilarating days at the Sisimiut Timersortarfik.

This year’s event carries special significance, marking the 75th anniversary of the host club, SAK. As one of Greenland’s most pivotal handball organizations, SAK’s milestone will be celebrated throughout the championships, honoring its long-standing commitment to the sport and the local community.

Fans can look forward to an array of matchups in both the men’s and women’s categories. The men’s competition will feature teams from Norsaq HC, NÛK, SAK, GSS, and Nagdlúnguaq, while the women’s side includes GSS, SAK, NÛK, Nagdlúnguaq, and K-33. Preliminary matches are slated to take place daily from 2:00 PM to 8:30 PM over the first four days, culminating in a thrilling finals day on April 5.

Following the senior championships, the handball festivities will continue in Ilulissat with the U15 Greenland Championships, set for April 13 to 17. This flurry of activity makes April a true celebration of handball across Greenland, promising excitement and spirited competition for players and fans alike.
