Competition Lineup
The competition program caters to participants of all ages, ranging from four to 99 years. The first two days—Wednesday and Thursday—will feature indoor balance exercises on ropes.
On Friday, the water competitions begin with the short-distance race, while Saturday highlights the individual kayak flipping contest. Moving to Sunday, competitors will engage in a unique challenge: transporting a qajaq on land with the kayak flipped upside down.
Monday provides a well-deserved rest day for the kayakers. On Tuesday, participants will battle it out in a kayak rowing competition using a harpoon, followed by a team kayak flipping contest on Wednesday. The week culminates with a long-distance kayak race on Thursday, leading up to the crowning of the team kayak champions on Friday, July 10.
The first to compete on the final day will be the youngest participants, ages four to nine, whose events begin bright and early at 10:00 AM, as per the plans laid out by Peqatigiiffik Qajaq Nuuk.
As the championship unfolds, it’s clear that this event will not only showcase impressive kayaking skills but will also bring together the community in a celebration of sport and tradition.
