On Monday evening, Greenland’s application for membership in Concacaf was unanimously rejected. – This is not a victory for the democracy of football, says KAK chairman, Kenneth Kleist.

On Monday evening, the Greenland Football Association, KAK, was informed that Greenland’s application to Concacaf has been unanimously rejected. The football association reported this on its Facebook page.

    Monday evening isAnnouncement

KAK submitted its application at the beginning of the year to be included in Concacaf, which is a sports organization for national football associations from a region consisting of North America, Central America and the Caribbean. Membership could allow KAK to create more development locally, where football teams can get more opportunities for foreign matches.

    – We will spend the next 24 hours evaluating our situation and discussing internally how we will respond to the decision, says KAK chairman Kenneth Kleist in a press release and continues:

    – But for now, we want to make it clear that this is not a victory for football democracy. It does not make football accessible to everyone globally, and it shows that smaller nations face extremely big challenges in getting permission to play under their own flag, he says.
