Uiloq Enoksen and Abia Abelsen Nielsen Recognized as “Talent of the Year” at Nanortalik Christmas Event

In a vibrant celebration at the Sports Hall in Nanortalik, Uiloq Enoksen and Abia Abelsen Nielsen were honored as the “Talent of the Year” during a festive Christmas gathering designed for the local community, according to a press release from Kommune Kujalleq.

Alongside Uiloq and Abia, the titles of “Coach of the Year” were awarded to two individuals, Minik Stephensen and Benjamin L. Chemnitz. The accolades didn’t stop there; Rosine Lange and Ari Enoksen were also named “Sportspeople of the Year.”

The event was a delightful affair, featuring an enchanting mix of music, a traditional Lucia procession, a heartfelt speech from a local priest, and vibrant performances by the children of the community.

The day unfolded beautifully, with Arnat Peqatigiit and representatives from Klub Alummiut stepping up as gracious hosts for a coffee meeting that welcomed both men and women from the community.

Following the Lucia procession, attendees were treated to a surprise of sorts—when the lights dimmed, a masked dance broke out, much to the delight of those present. “It was a fantastic addition,” said Samuel Simonsen, a cultural and leisure worker in Nanortalik, reflecting on the evening’s unexpected highlight.

As the community came together in celebration, the spirit of togetherness illuminated the venue, embodying the true essence of the holiday season.
